thanks deborah-- i feel the same way about the market. i found a recipe for homemade butter in the nytimes and want to try to use the cream from raw milk to make some (basically you whip the cream until it is butter). thanks for the comment--

Love this post. I love spending Saturday mornings at the market. I am already becoming apoplexic at the thought of the season ending in December. Love George and Celeste Albers. They are such genuine people who truly are determined to provide healthy "upper portion" alternatives to the supermarket options. I'd like to say something evil about the dangers of drinking raw milk to discourage others from seeking out this "liquid gold" but just can't bring myself to lie. Just recently bought some beef from Dr. Oliver which was delicious. As soon as I empty my freezer from the limas, okra and other veggies I'm gonna stock up.

good call--Big T's in Gadsden is definitely the real thing and the hash is probably the best i've ever had. Sweatman's, on the other hand, totally let me down.

Big T's hash will make you sweat. I think the "Mutha Ship" in Gadsden just might be this state's most distinctive soul food/bbq joint. If they only had a jar of pickled pig's feet on the counter...

Thanks for the clarification, Jeff. I assumed that you wrote it–shows my level of source checking.

by the way, your old piece (I think you wrote it at least) on SC barbeque is one of my all time favorite local food pieces–I’ve been to both Big T’s Barbeque joints in Columbia and Gadsden because of it.

Thanks, Food 4 Thought. I think this format is a little easier to read. Let me know if you have any insight from the farmers market--everyone experiences it differently.
